This Elite Hanoverian mare by the German bred Goldfasan (Wendekreis) is double bred Gotthard for those who know their jumper breeding. Imported from Germany by Eurosport Auction owner Jeff Marsh with Glenwood Farms, she was purchased as a three year old upon entry into the US. Silverhorne continued with her in preparation for her AHS inspection and Mare Performance Test. AHS inspection judges scored 8s on head, neck and typiness and feminity and on jumping technique; 7s on walk and canter.
She is superbly athletic and talented enough to have gone either dressage or jumping. She has competed in west coast hunter and jumper competitions. Capturing the title of Ultimate Sporthorse in the 1998 Westcoast Sporthorse Classic, Golden Gate was the star of the two day event which was at the time the largest breed show on this coast. The show boasted as many as 300 sporthorses including mares and foals. The all around Ultimate Award is given to the horse attaining the highest score in hand (76.7%), in a materials class (78.7% under saddle) and in a dressage test (65.45%). Golden Gate’s stardom continues to rise as she extends herself with each new foal. Her foals are exquisite with tons of presence. For that reason, she is presently back in the breeding program.
Her Elite Mare status was sealed when she gave birth to a filly, Daphne S (Elite Eligible) by Donnerhall’s California-based son, Domiro followed by a second filly by Sir Caletto, Samantha S. Samantha S was named Elite Mare Eligible at her 2006 Hanoverian Inspection and was tied for Champion Mare and in 2005 captured the Reserve Champion Two Year Old title at the IHF West Coast finals as well as the Sallie B. Wheeler Hunter Breeding Reserve title.
Golden Gate consistently gives her all whenever asked, possessing a lot of character, heart and superb work ethic. Silverhorne prepared her for the Mare Performance Test wherein she attained scores allowing her to be an Elite Mare Candidate.
