Horse Development


Natural horsemanship has been a hallmark of the starting program at Silverhorne for the past 7 years. Now, under the direction of Chris Cook and Lisa Dumper, supported by Rachel Dunn, the starting program is fully realized in that the results are tangible (see Riding Magazine article for a full explanation). The horses are happy and confident because they are in a recognized program that builds mental and emotional confidence concurrent with the physical elements of the body being developed simultaneously. Choosing the right path

Severus learns to hunt the middle of the jump. When he
chooses the middle he's rewarded by coming to a stop and
getting a treat. When he chooses to jump the white panel
he is asked to keep moving. He quickly learns to choose
the middle of the jump.
